Tubas!  You just can't have too many of them.  "High Art for Low Brass" is how this quartet consisting of two euphoniums and two tubas characterizes its music.  After twelve years of performing across North America and Europe, Sotto Voce has firmly established itself as a unique ensemble with an extraordinary sense of musicianship.  The members of the group are all stars in the tuba/euphonium world, published composers, and university professors.  The quartet prides itself in challenging preconceived notions about tubas by composing, arranging, and commissioning virtuosic new works to create a diverse repertoire comprising original compositions and arrangements of music from all eras (from English madrigals to the music of Frank Zappa).  Sotto Voce performed for Del Valle Fine Arts in April 2006 and were an audience favorite.  TubaNews.com says, "All of the players ... are at the absolute top of their game.  Whether they are playing lyrical ballades, latin dance rhythms, or jazz improvisations, the clarity, style, and musicianship are matched by very few quartets in the world."

Tickets for the concert are available at the Bankhead Theater ticket office at 2400 First Street, Livermore, CA.  You can call the box office at 925-373-6800 or visit them on the web at www.livermoreperformingarts.org.  The box office is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6:00 PM, and on performance days starting 2 hours prior to performance time.

Individual tickets are $33, $27, or $21.
