Formed in 1981, the Alexander String Quartet has performed in the major music capitals of five continents, securing its standing among the world's premier ensembles.  Widely admired for its interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, and Shostakovich, the quartet has also established itself as an important advocate of new music.  

Members Zakarias Grafilo, violin; Frederick Lifsitz, violin; Paul Yarbrough, viola; and Sandy Wilson, Cello, constitute a major artistic presence in their home base of San Francisco, serving as directors of the Morrison Chamber Music Center at San Francisco State University and in residence with San Francisco Performances.  Of a recent group of performances by the quartet, The New York Times raved, "The intimacy of the music came through with enhanced power and poignancy in the Alexander quartet's vibrant, probing assured and aptly volatile performances."  

They will be joined by the noted pianist June Oh, a founding member of the Tilden Trio and a faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and at Dominican University of California.

Los Angeles Guitar Quartet		Tickets for the concerts are available at the Bankhead Theater ticket office at 2400 First Street, Livermore, CA.  You can call the box office at 925-373-6800 or visit them on the web at www.livermoreperformingarts.org.  The box office is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6:00 PM, and on performance days starting 2 hours prior to performance time.

Season tickets are available for the five regular season concerts (Saturday concerts) for $128, $106, or $85, a 15% discount off individual concert ticket prices.
