Dear Friends of Del Valle Fine Arts,
Del Valle will now present the high-quality chamber musicians you expect at the brand-new 500-seat Bankhead Theater. This beautiful, $22 million professional facility has reserved theater-style seating, a staffed box office, high-quality lighting, and is located in downtown Livermore.

Our thirtieth season of concerts will bring changes, but we think you will be impressed by the music and the experience.

CURRENT CONCERTS

Sat. April 26, 2008: Binelli-Ferman-Isaac Trio

Enjoy the excitement and brilliance of Argentine tango music as performed by these three South American virtuosi. Composer, arranger, and bandoneón player Daniel Binelli has written music for the orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese and has played the bandoneon with the sextet of the acclaimed tango master Astor Piazzolla. Uruguayan pianist Polly Ferman has been called "musical ambassador of the Americas" by the Japan Times. Guitarist Eduardo Isaac brings his mastery of the musical traditions of the Rio de la Plata to major international festivals.

Sat. May 24, 2008: Premier Saxophone Quartet

The Premier Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2005 by four Bay Area masters of the instrument. Soprano saxophonist Dale Wolford is professor of saxophone at San Jose State University and California State University, Stanislaus; the San Francisco Chronicle calls his playing "fresh and expressive, with genuine impulses of feeling." On alto saxophone, Kevin Stewart has performed with leading chamber groups and symphony orchestras, appearing recently in Carnegie Hall with the San Francisco Symphony. David Henderson, playing tenor saxophone, has degrees from the University of Michigan and the Juilliard School, and he received a first prize in saxophone from the Conservatoire de Bordeaux. Aaron Lington, on the baritone saxophone, is director of jazz studies at San Jose State University; he performs with both jazz artists and classical orchestras. As a quartet they perform a diverse repertoire of classical and jazz works.

SPECIAL FRIDAY CONCERT

Del Valle Fine Arts in association with the Livermore Performing Arts Center presents:

FRIDAY May 9, 2008: Cell Block Seven

A traditional jazz band, Cell Block Seven also includes in its offerings a sprinkling of blues and miscellaneous other melodies. Add such touches as a venerable Stradivarius E-flat washboard, a trio of double bell euphoniums (played by three men), banjo, guitar, mandolin, and more. The eight band members (one was added after the group got its name) are not, for the most part, professional musicians, but their public's enthusiatic response to their performances bears witness to their excellence.
